Our Name
Vaastu (pronounced vah-stue) is an architectural term that has its origins in the Sanskrit language. It is loosely translated as "a building" or "the principles of a structure." It is sometimes used to describe a style of architecture that is known to have a harmonious relationship with the environment and for the people who inhabit the structure. WebVaastu aspires to create sites on the world wide web that have a harmonious effect in the world. We do this by taking your great ideas and initiatives and building a home for them on the world wide web.
Tamara Haspels purchased this domain name, WebVaastu, in 2002. Since then, WebVaastu in various forms (Web Vastu, Web Vaastu, WebVastu) has become a phenomena in India. As the original "owner" of the "domain", WebVaastu, Tamara maintains reverence for the historic tradition of Vastu and ascertains that WebVaastu is its own phenomena, distinct from the Vedic texts but not separate from Veda in Totality.
Who 'We' Are
Tamara Haspels is the sole proprietor of WebVaastu. Tamara is also the lead designer and developer. With undergraduate and graduate degrees in art and digital media, Tamara has been creating and maintaining websites for the nonprofit sector and small businesses since 2001. She devoted a year to helping nonprofit organizations develop a presence on the web as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer. Tamara was later employed by the University of Pittsburgh in the same capacity, as a webmaster to nonprofit initiatives.
WebVaastu has been Tamara's sole livelihood since the beginning of 2004. Tamara stays abreast of current and future trends in web development through a network of colleagues, web research, relevant texts and by taking classes.
